NON-BIO
Vicky Dale was born in Grimsby during a power cut. She has since been credited with the return of light and energy to the Humberside region.
Of Anglo-Italian-Viking stock Vicky’s heritage has given her the innate ability to pillage tea bags while wearing too much make-up.
She initially found fame through numerous musical projects including Techno hit “Don’t stop, don’t stop, don’t stop, don’t stop, don’t stop, don’t stop. Stop.” and the post-punk iconoclasm of ‘Pie or Pudding – Fuck You’.
After falling out with her label over the marketing strategy for the album “Tit Bits, Shit Hits, and Bitter Gits” Dale shut her mouth and opened her eyes.
Her Berlin period gave Vix a thirst for the ugly and she found herself searching out the worst of British architecture. What first struck her was concrete - a block of it falling from a poorly maintained council built walkway. Injuries sustained meant that both legs were amputated below the knee. However, this moment was formative (as well as deformative). She flung herself into painting, laughing as she captured the cold emotionless glare of modern buildings.
Her work has gathered international indifference and comparisons with many great and mediocre artists of her time. The Turner Prize, Young Artist Award and BP Portrait Award are just some of the accolades Vicky has enjoyed reading about.
She continues to be much sought after in the fields of grassland, magnetism and gas.
